99 Palestinian minors are held captive in Ofer jail

99 mineurs Palestiniens sont détenus en captivité dans la prison d'Ofer

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Palestinian Prisoner Society said the Israeli Occupation Authority holds 99 Palestinian minors as prisoners in Ofer military jail. 13 of them were sentenced up to 14-28 months in addition to expensive fines.

The representative of the Palestinian minor prisoners held in Ofer jail Abdulfatah Doleh, who is sentenced to 15 years, said the minors are mostly sentenced based on indictments and confessions taken by force under torture.

“Just in this month, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) arrested 33 juveniles most of them were arrested after midnight”, Doleh said.

Regarding their health conditions, he said about 30 minors suffer health problems including diabetes and breathing difficulty. Some of the cases complain about complications of being shot by IOF during arrest operations. Many of them were receiving treatment before arrest, but got ignored after detention.

He also referred to the most common legal violations in regards with detention of children. The Israeli Authority holds juveniles in custody for more than 24 hours; put some of them on trial after passing one year of detention; bans their parents of attending their investigation and holds them with adults in waiting rooms.
