Occupied Jerusalem, ALRAY - The closure of the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, confiscation of the keys to al-Aqsa Mosque doors, prevention call for prayers for the third day in a row in addition to the imposition of military control over al-Aqsa Mosque are leading towards imposing a new reality at the al-Aqsa by putting the mosque in the grip of the Israeli Occupation Authorities (IOA).

Although al-Aqsa doors are locked with iron chains and locks, Hanadi Halawani, a Jerusalemite prominent pro-Aqsa activist and a teacher, along with a group of the al-Aqsa Mosque guards and Muslims worshipers remained rooted in front of its doors for three days in a row.

Halawani attributed the abandonment of al-Aqsa to the neighboring before the far people, appealing to the people of Jerusalem to swarm at the nearest point to al-Aqsa Mosque and to pray there till the minarets of al-Aqsa raise their voices loudly calling for prayer at the al-Aqsa Mosque.

Halawani surprised from the successive moves by the IOA against al-Aqsa, saying “The Israeli occupation municipality forcibly put its hands on the courtyards of al-Aqsa Mosque this morning and sent street cleaning vehicles and a big number of Jewish workers to clean the courtyards, which is happening for the first time since 1967.”

Halawani added, “In the meantime, dozens of Jewish workers are cleaning the surroundings of the Dome of the Rock and removing ruins and damage resulting from Israeli soldiers’ inspections, in addition to removing garbage and remains of food of soldiers in front of Al-Qibli Chapel in the Holy Mosque.”

Latifa Abdullatif, a Jerusalemite journalist and Murabitah at the Holy Site of al-Aqsa Mosque Compound, commented on the dangerous and unprecedented development happening in al-Aqsa through installing metal detectors at the entrances of al-Aqsa Mosque, saying “It had created a very serious precedent of its kind which will tighten the entry of al-Aqsa employees and worshipers into the Mosque.”

In this regard, Halawani said that installing metal detectors at the entrances of al-Aqsa to search and inspect every Palestinian wish to enter the Mosque is shame and humiliation on everyone wouldn’t lift a finger to support the Islamic holy site of al-Aqsa Mosque.

Journalist Abdullatif called upon every Jerusalemite who can go to al-Aqsa Mosque just to pray at the nearest point of the Holy site, so the Mosque wouldn’t be away from the eyes of his beloved.

In response to the request of the director of Al-Aqsa Mosque Sheikh Omar al-Kiswani which was made dozens of times to the IOA, the IOA permitted him to enter al-Aqsa Mosque Compound for only 10 minutes at midnight to conduct a short tour inside the Islamic holy site to checkup its premises.

It is worth mentioning that the IOA imposed on Friday morning a strict siege on Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound and Jerusalem’s Old City, and prevented its employees from entering the mosque and carrying out their work following a deadly attack that gunned down two Israeli policemen and three Palestinians from the occupied Palestinian city of Umm al-Fahm.
