CAIRO, (PIC)-- The London based al-Hayat newspaper said that the deputy head of the Hamas political bureau, Dr. Musa Abu Marzouq and member of the central committee of Fatah, Azzam al-Ahmad arrived in Cairo the day before yesterday and met separately with Egyptian intelligence officials.

The paper said on Friday that it was most likely that the two officials, Abu Marzouq and al-Ahmad were likely to meet on Friday to put the final touches on the preparations for the meeting between President Mahmoud Abbas and Head of Hamas’s political bureau Khaled Mishaal, which is slated for next Friday.

Al-Ahmad told al-Hayat newspaper that he came to Cairo at Egypt's invitation, confirming that the date of the meeting between the two Palestinian leaders on the 25 November has not been changed, but Abbas will arrive next Wednesday in Cairo to hold talks with Egyptian officials over a couple of days before the meeting.

Al-Ahmad refused to divulge details of the issues agreed with Abu Marzouq to be discussed during the Abbas-Mishaal meeting, on which Palestinians are pinning much hope both on the internal level and on the political level. Most Palestinians are hoping that the meeting will result in solid decisions that will expedite the implementation of the national reconciliation.
