Dissolution of the Palestinian Authority should not be used as a bargaining chip or tactic to improve the negotiation terms or obtain symbolic recognition of the State of Palestine at the United Nations. It is a serious step resulting from deep conviction of the failure of the negotiation strategy; it would signal a return Palestine's other options, especially resistance to the Israeli occupation; and it would put the onus on Israel to fulfil its obligations as an occupying power.
The decision could well be the most important of Mahmoud Abbas's political career. We urge him to do it. Go on, Abbas, dissolve the Palestinian Authority.

La dissolution de l'Autorité palestinienne ne devrait pas être utilisée comme une monnaie d'échange, ni être une tactique visant à améliorer les conditions des négociations ou à obtenir la reconnaissance symbolique de l'Etat palestinien aux Nations Unies. C'est une étape grave qui résulte de la conviction profonde de l'échec de la stratégie de négociation; il s'agirait du signal d'un retour à d'autres options en Palestine, en particulier le retour à la résistance à l'occupation israélienne, et elle ferait incomber à Israël la responsabilité de remplir ses obligations de puissance occupante.
La décision pourrait bien
être la plus importante de la carrière politique de Mahmoud Abbas. Nous lui demandons de le
