Silwan, Jerusalem (SILWANIC) — 10 year old Muslim Aoudeh was summoned by Israeli police today, 6 March, to the Jerusalem police station for investigation. Aoudeh was abducted, along with four other Palestinian children, on 28 February this year near his home in Al-Bustan district of Silwan.
Muslim suffered the worst of the 5 boys taken that day, subjected to severe beatings by Israeli officers before he even arrived at the police station. The beatings inflicted left clear marks of brutality on his face and hands. Upon arrival at the station, Muslim was so physically unwell that he could not stop himself from throwing up several times, causing him to be transferred to Hadassah Ein Karem hospital in West Jerusalem. Doctors found that the child was suffering from a fractured skull and severe bruising throughout his body.
As the police were unable to proceed with interrogation of Muslim due to the brutality wrecked upon him by their colleagues, they have now summoned him once again for investigation. He is accused of stone-throwing – the seventh time that Muslim has been arrested on this charge.
Muslim’s family, residents of Al-Bustan, which has been earmarked for demolition by the Israeli Municipality, who in collaboration with settlement organisations seek to eliminate the Palestinian identity of the area both culturally and physically. The ultimate plan for Al-Bustan and other parts of Wadi Hilweh is the establishment of a biblical garden as massive extension of the settler-sponsored City of David archaeological site in Wadi Hilweh.
Muslim’s two older brothers remain in custody on the pretext of involvement in recent clashes in Silwan. Muslim’s father Sheikh Musa Aoudeh, member of the Al-Bustan Popular Committee, is currently serving a house arrest sentence outside the village.
