Cairo, (Pal Telegraph) - The Palestine Telegraph (PT) obtained a very exclusive video, which is the first of its kind, covering the inhumane treatment that Palestinians encounter in Egypt. The short film shows the Mubarak regime's policy for those seeking to cross the Rafah Border into the Gaza Strip.
The footage in the video was taken secretly by one of the Palestinians who recently traveled to Gaza. The video was taken after the Egyptian decision to open the Rafah Crossing. It documents a trip of humiliation and suffering that Palestinians encounter.
It narrates the story of more than 70 Palestinian children, women, men and the elderly that are held in jail-like confinement in the basement of the Cairo airport before being deported to Gaza.
The lucky were those that only had to wait 24 hours; others had to wait for 48 hours before waiting to being sent to Gaza. Many Palestinians since that time are not allowed to travel for so called Egyptian security reasons. Some manage to travel as pay bribes for some Egyptian security members.
For security reasons PT can't release the name of the Palestinian filming the video. Palestinians are treated by the Egyptian government as criminals when they cross to Gaza. This system of deportation has been taking place for more than 10 years now. Since the start of the Egyptian Revolution, there have been more than 60 Palestinians held at the Cairo airport.
